Humantouch Management Team01Phil Harnick, Esq., President: Mr. Harnick is the CEO, President and Chief Architect of Humantouch. Prior to co-founding Humantouch, Mr. Harnick was President of Clarity Consulting, helping large government agencies including the California Department of Justice select and implement complex technology solutions. Throughout his diverse career Mr. Harnick has been a software architect, developer, and large systems implementer, and has held numerous management positions. Mr. Harnick holds patents and copyrights for software and methodologies spanning many industries. Mr. Harnick holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from the California State University at Fullerton, a J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he served as President of the Student Bar Association. Mr. Harnick is a member of the California Bar. 02Scott Thompson, VP Development: Scott Thompson has over 15 years expertise with Microsoft Windows-based operating systems, and 10 years design and development in multiple languages and environments including C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, WPF, and JavaScript. Mr. Thompson has extensive experience in the Healthcare industry supporting and building systems in EPIC and NextGen. He is fluent in Client-Server systems, Transact-SQL, and Object Oriented design and development. 03Lisa Moll, Director of Operations: Ms. Moll graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude with Latin Honors, including a year of study at Oxford University's Mansfield College. Ms. Moll brings extensive skills in Content Management and Human Interface Engineering to Humantouch. 04Dr. Michael A. Newdow, Chief Medical Officer: Dr. Newdow is a co-founder of Humantouch and an emergency physician certified by the American Board of Emergency Physicians (ABEM) since 1989. He has over 25 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, having practiced as a "locums" physician in well over 100 different facilities. His significant computer experience includes the development of a physician charting program in 1984, and a touch screen program to gather data directly from patients, implemented in 1989. He has been a part-time faculty member of the Olive View - UCLA Medical Center since 1994, and held various other academic positions while continuing his practice in Emergency Medicine. Carl Volpe: Dr. Volpe is recognized nationally for his contributions to our nation's health policy. He developed and implemented healthcare policies for the National Governors' Association, advocated those policies to Congress and the Bush and Clinton administrations, and served as a consultant to President Clinton's Health Care Task Force. Dr. Volpe has lectured extensively on topics including market-based healthcare, healthcare financing, state-based healthcare reform, national healthcare reform, Medicaid, managed care, private health insurance, state/federal relationships in healthcare policy and health information technology. As Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for WellPoint, Inc., Dr. Volpe developed corporate strategic initiatives with hospitals and hospital systems, physician groups, foundations and academic institutions to improve services and the quality of care to WellPoint's members. Dr. Volpe is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at UCLA and holds an MA and PhD in Experimental Psychology from Northeastern University. 03Dr. Michael Newdow, MD, JD 04Robyn B. Sokol, Esq: Ms. Sokol has an extensive background in business reorganization and creditors' rights. She has served as lead or co-counsel in scores of trials, evidentiary hearings and other courts throughout the United States. Ms. Sokol represents businesses in a myriad of industries including manufacturing, marketing and promotion, retail, entertainment, finance, golf courses, home building, real estate development, hospitality, insurance, real estate, shipping, and healthcare. Ms. Sokol is a member of the State Bar of California and U.S. District Court, Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of California. Ms. Sokol's transactional work includes negotiating, drafting, analyzing and reviewing loan documents, real and personal property leases, purchase agreements and licensing agreements. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, B.S., Finance and Real Estate, Cum Laude, Beta Gamma Sigma, and the Golden Key National Honor Society. She attended law school at Boston University School of Law earning her J.D. in 1991. Humantouch Advisors01Dr. Sukhjit Takhar: Dr. Takhar graduated with a degree in Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Takhar completed residencies in Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medicine and then a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at UCLA. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at UCSF Fresno and is also on faculty in the department of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Takhar has numerous publications and has unique expertise in infections the emergency room. Dr. Takhar also serves as the assistant director for the Fresno branch of the GeoSentinal network (a CDC funded worldwide network that tracks infections in travelers. 02Dr. Michael Menchine: Dr. Menchine is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Los Angeles County Hospital at the University of Southern California where he focuses on health system response to external mandates and research methodology. Dr. Menchine received his undergraduate (summa cum laude) and medical degrees from UCLA where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency training at UCLA where he served as chief resident in emergency medicine and is currently board certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Dr. Menchine has also completed a health service research fellowship. His research has been supported by grants from the NIH and California Policy Research Center. He is an editor of the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine and reviewer for numerous other medical journals. 03Dr. Jay Lee: Dr. Lee currently practices at Kaiser Permanente as a staff emergency room physician. Dr. Lee heads the Disaster and Emergency preparedness committee for his group. Dr. Lee completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at UCLA, he is board certified in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Lee graduated New York Medical College, Alpha Omega Alpha, a distinction given to the top 10% of the class 04Dr. David Hardy: Dr. Hardy graduated with Honors from UC Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology before earning his M.D. degree from New York Medical College, where he was a trustee Scholar. He is also a lifetime Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society member, and completed his Emergency Medicine training at UCLA. He now works full time in the Emergency Department of Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, one of the country's premier hospitals. There he is also involved in resident education, MD/RN collaboration and research, and has also taken time to be Medical Co-Director of Emergency Services for the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) yearly contest in Tahiti. He has been published in the Annals of Emergency Medicine, the field's most respected publication. 05Dr. Jorge Yant: Highly acclaimed as a leading industry innovator and creative visionary, Jorge Yant's unique leadership has guided Plexis Healthcare Systems since its founding in 1996. Mr. Yant's expertise in developing key partnerships and experience directing the design, development and deployment of information technology systems for the healthcare industry has resulted in Plexis continued growth in the U.S. and abroad. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Plexis is recognized as one of the nation's fastest growing healthcare technology companies. Mr. Yant is the founder of several successful technology businesses and a former CIO of one of the largest law firms in the country, Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe;Consultant with Price Waterhouse; and Director of Administration at U.C. Berkeley law school. Mr. Yant was appointed to the Oregon Health Policy Commission by Governor Ted Kulongoski in 2004 and has delivered speeches to a wide range of executive, business and health industry audiences. Mr. Yant holds a Masters of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico. |
